LIFE-SAVING COMMUNICATIONS DURING THE RISE OF THE PANDEMIC
After booking an early flight home from South America due to the spike of COVID-19, I was immediately put on a project at the beginning of our new work-from-home reality to create life-saving content for the OSF HealthCare Pandemic Health Worker Program (PHWP). Part of a partnership with the State of Illinois and Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the PHWP served individuals with COVID-19 symptoms to care for themselves at home in order to relieve hospitals and protect the well-being of the general public during the hysteria of the pandemic.
With every second being crucial to saving lives, my team was tasked with rapidly designing and developing a suite of patient-facing materials – including a patient handbook, digital site, and call scripts – to make the home care process understandable and safe. I led the content strategy and writing efforts: quickly navigating a moving target of new information and distilling it down to the essentials to write a clear, organized instructional guide that had to account for all audiences, including the elderly, homeless, and mentally impaired.
